Living In False Dream, Which Will Never Materialize

Despite knowing the fact that the division of Manipur would be impossible, which is beyond the capacity of the men in power at the Center, there are still some people who are building the devilish hope to divide Manipur on communal lines. As if Manipur has robbed them everything of their well being they think a divided Manipur will be to their favor. They are living in a fool's paradise.

They are living in history when Kings could shift the capital as and when it wanted. At the end the kings themselves realized their folly of shortsightedness and they ended up shattered in all fields. Why did the Indians remain under British colonial rule for nearly three centuries? That is a lesson. Our kings were not united and remained fighting against each other. The Britishers who came here for trading saw in it what they could do. India was annexed.

The same maladies have affected Manipur. Why it happens in this modern age? A house in flame is different from burning shabbily built Yaoshang to mark the start of the Holy festival. The later is for making Yaoshang merriment. The unrealistic thought of bringing betterment to the hills of the state by dividing Manipur has created a wrong notion in the minds of some gullible people that Manipur is for Meiteis only.

In history the irresponsible kings put enormous hardships to the people by their follies. Moreover Manipur cannot be fragmented by the sweet will of the Govt. The forefathers handed the land to us and it cannot be bartered away like offering fruits on the altar of pujah.

Manipur belongs to all the people living in the state. We have a democratically elected Govt. Since 1972 when Manipur became a full-fledged state, the longest serving Chief Minister the state had ever produced was a tribal. Manipur was under the tribal chief Ministers for 14 years, all Nagas. Now there are 20 tribal MLAs in Manipur most of them are ministers.

The NSCN (IM) supremo can return to the state as chief Minister, the people will welcome him. But the idea of dividing Manipur on communal line will be opposed at any cost. Because Manipur is a creation of history. Now nobody will have the right to play with the territorial integrity of the state. The basic question is if Manipur is for Meiteis only whose land is India? The leaders who are living in false dream of dividing of Manipur should try to convince the gullible people not to dream of living in a divided Manipur.

Let us unite to make Manipur strong and to put it at par with other developed states of the country. Let there be no misunderstanding that Manipur exists for a particular community only. Better sense should prevail in the minds of all those think a fragmented Manipur will serve them better.
