Dear Manipuri
People,
I am a bit confused about the ongoing insurgency in your part of the
country. After reading through some of the news articles here it appears
that the general discord is about belonging to a particular tribe or
group of people.
My question to those who are taking up arms on this
agenda is... Which part of India is not a mix of various tribes,
religion, castes etc?
Take for example Karnataka... If you go to the west
side of the state border towards Maharashtra
you will find people who have relations with the Marathis and this works for every state.
Does it mean they are taking up arms to carve out another state or align
themselves with Maharashtra? No they are free to practice their culture
and language in Karnataka also and they are doing that while they work
towards economic development of themselves and in the
progress of the
state of Karnataka.
If it is the economic problems that is driving you to take up arms then
it is better to address that problem(s) rather than talk about ethnic
identities because this is a free country and
you are allowed to practice
whatever religion, rituals, and traditions you wish to
irrespective of
state boundaries.
And you are also free to demand a right to good
education and economic opportunities. But economic development will
require hardwork there is no easy way out. Even if you carve out another
state or union you will have to work to make a living...
